Age: Newborn to 3 months
A note from Jessica, developer of California Baby®: With my first son, my mother-in-law hounded me to keep my son bundled up with layers and layers of clothes—even on hot Southern California summer days! Turns out she was right—sort of. Since babies cannot regulate their body temperatures, they need to be monitored closely. Newborns lose heat from the top of their heads (it's called "radiation") and that is why it is important to use a beanie type cap on newborns and young babies. The experts say that thermal stability improves gradually as the baby increases in weight. Our cap can be a first layer in colder climates or all that is needed in warmer ones.
